Peanut Oil is great for frying and making popcornPeanut oil is great for frying foods or any higher temperature cooking needs, like making food in a wok.Wonderful stuff. I finally cook fried chicken, popcorn, egg rolls, and various Chinese wok dishes to my satisfaction without worrying about burning the oil.4So much discrepancy in this oil's reviews... It's NUTTY, I tell ya!I'm not sure about what other people say about this Peanut Oil. I bought it to season our wok and for stir-frying tasty veggies... it arrived in our AmazonFresh order in one piece, with the little top seal perfectly sealed. I didn't notice any off odors or flavors that indicate the oil was rancid. If you need a smaller amount of Peanut Oil, I would say go for this one.5Good for high temp grilling and cooking, Size is easy to handleWhen I fill up my deep fryer, I use a peanut oil I get at the local warehouse, and it is darker and has more of a peanut taste. I think this must be more highly refined. I have used this to top my fryer off though when the level got low because it is easier to handle than the great big jugs or boxes that I buy.BUT, I love to keep one of these 24 ounce bottles around for high temperature grilling and frying. This is a good size to keep in the cabinet above my stove- it's fairly light so it's easy to grab, open and use just a bit of at a time.The flavor is a delicate peanut flavor and it's a very light, very clear oil. You can smell the peanuts and it does have that taste, it's just not super strong- it never overpowers delicate foods.It is really good for pan grilling steaks, though sometimes I use grape oil instead. I tend to like to marinade in olive oil, but using the peanut oil in the bottom of the grill pan boosts my cooking oil to a high smoke point.It's good - it's a very convenient size. It's just perhaps a bit too refined for some uses, but that's a plus for delicate foods. It has its place in my kitchen though.4Camp size bottlesThis may look like a std. bottle of oil that you would get at the supermarket, but it s not. It s miniature, like if you want a bottle of oil to go camping with for a few days. The oil s fine, I just wasn t expecting a bottle the size of a beer can.5Disappointed!Don't understand, this used to be the best peanut oil ever now not a trace of peanut smell at all. What happened? Would really like to know what the reason is.2Superior to LouAnaMy local supermarket doesn't sell Planters peanut oil; so I have been buying LouAna's peanut oil lately and Planters is definitely the best that I have tried.It really makes terrific popcorn and if it was cheaper than I'd love to fry some chicken in it.Planters has a much darker and richer color than other peanut oil.5Good all-purpose oilI keep this primarily for bread machine recipes. It does the job without interfering with the taste of whatever bread I am making. I also smear a small amount on the inside of a measuring cup if I am measuring something sticky like honey. so I don't have to scrape the honey out with a spatula. It just slides right on out. It has a super high smoke point (approximately 448 F), which means that it lasts longer than other oils because it takes longer to "break down". In addition, it's low in saturated fat and is free of cholesterol and trans fat which doesn't mean that fried food is healthy (just to be clear), but as far as frying oils go, this is the king of all oils! Also noteworthy: According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, the process used to make peanut oil removes the proteins responsible for allergic reactions, so it's suitable for people with a peanut allergy.Planters 100% Pure Peanut Oil lasts a super long time without smelling bad or making fried food taste bad. It heats up to high temperatures without burning and fries food super fast without saturating it with oil, resulting in lighter fried food, crispy on the outside and moist in the inside.In our home, we use it mostly to fry potatoes and plantain, and the results are always delicious and light. Some people report a slightly "nutty" flavor; I don't detect anything but the pure taste of the food.A note about the $$$: I've looked for reasonably priced peanut oil everywhere (regular grocery stores, Costco, Indian grocery stores, Chinese marts, etc.) and it's one of the most expensive oils out there. The price on Amazon is amazing! Depending on the size of your fryer, you only need a couple of bottles to fill it, and as I mentioned, it lasts much longer than any other frying oil (especially if you filter or sieve it after each use).5Peanut oil is a great oil for frying chickenOnce every year or two I make fried chicken. One of my favorite things as a kid was cold fried chicken on a picnic. My Mom/Grandmother used lard or Crisco but I've found that Peanut Oil is an excellent substitute for frying chicken.Planters peanut oil is an excellent brand of oil and I usually use the entire bottle between two large cast iron pans filled twice with fried chicken.5A wonderful productI was lucky to find this wonderful product. It is perfect for my grandmother's honey cake, whose recipe calls for a tasteless vegetable oil.Moreover, pure peanut oil is very healthy. The best peanut oil is almost colorless and is hard to find. Thank you, Planter's! It was not in Whole Foods or Food Emporium, but fortunately is available at Amazon.5
